It has been said that life is a matter of choices. Your life has been shaped by the choices you have made. Some of the choices we make in life are easy, "What am I going to eat for dinner?" Some are a bit more impacting like, "Who am I going to marry and spend the rest of my life with?" Many times we feel we are alone to make these choices in life, but we are not. God is there for us to help us and guide us along the way. But we first need to make a decision to follow Him.
You were created with a God-shaped hole in your heart. That void can only be filled by a loving God. How can I make a choice to follow this God that loves me so much?
It’s as easy as 1-2-3.
1-Recognize You are a Sinner
The first step is understanding that we have a spiritual need. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We each need to come to the place where we recognize our guilt before God. The problem is there are consequences for our actions. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
2- Realize Jesus Died for You.
We have a debt that we can never repay, but Jesus did the unthinkable and canceled our debt by dying on the cross. “That’s what Christ did definitively: suffered because of others’ sins, the Righteous One for the unrighteous ones. He went through it all—was put to death and then made alive—to bring us to God.”†(1 Peter 3:18)
3- Receive Him as Your Savior
Our responsibility is to accept this forgiveness by believing in His finished work on the cross. “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
If you would like to receive Jesus as your Savior pray this prayer:
“Dear Jesus, I want to receive you as my Savior and Lord. I ask that you forgive me for all that I’ve done wrong. I thank you for dying on the cross for me. I want to follow you all the days of my life.
In Your name I pray, Amen.”
